The Running Buffs high school cross country team competed in the 31-1A District Cross Country Meet on October 9th at Rock Springs High School. Both the boys team and girls team will be advancing to the UIL 1A Region 4 Cross Country Meet being held October 23rd-24th at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
The boy’s team brought home the first-place trophy, with Luke Leavelle bringing home the individual gold medal with a time of 18:03.44. Brayden Long followed shortly after with a time of 19:07.921 and placed third. With a time of 20:45, Lawson Leavelle placed thirteenth and was swiftly followed by Rodrigo Rios in 14th, clocking in at 20:51. Samuel Fox ended his race placing twenty-third, with a time of 22:09.
The girl’s team finished 2nd, with Kinsley Cox bringing home the gold medal for first place in the girl’s two-mile race with a time of 13:44.365. Emily Wiekamp, finished 10th with a time of 15:24.413. With a time of 16:04, Riley McCutcheon finished 12th. Lastly, Chloe Matocha came in at 24th with a time of 19:40.
The boy’s junior varsity team finished first in the district with a one, two, three sweep, bringing home the top three medals in the boys’ three-mile race. Ivan Campos finished first, timed in at 22:10. Issac Golden achieved second place, timing in at 25:28 and was immediately followed by Ransom Harthcock inĀ third, finishing at 25:50
